Day 23: Spaced Repetition and Long-Term Retention

Back in Day 1 we called this step Review, and it’s the one people skip most often, because a fresh image feels unforgettable in the moment. It isn’t. Even a great image fades if it’s never revisited, and the fix isn’t reviewing constantly, it’s reviewing on an expanding schedule right before you’d otherwise forget.

The pattern: review something new after about a day, then after three days, then a week, then a month, each successful recall pushes the next review further out. This is called spaced repetition, and it’s why some memories become permanent on very little total review time, you’re always reviewing right at the edge of forgetting, which is exactly what strengthens a memory the most.

You don’t need special software for this, a simple calendar reminder works, the schedule matters far more than the tool.
